I was at a picnic for Golden Retrievers with my dog, Dawson this weekend. Yes, you read that correctly. This is what people sometimes do that do not have children with their weekends. Actually, it was quite enjoyable seeing a hundred or so Golden Retrievers running around freely around the park. My Retriever especially enjoys the water so he took full advantage of the adjacent lake. It was quite a driving out to George Bush Park, I hope my dog appreciates my efforts to make him content.
While at these events it is quite typical to start a conversation with people about their dog and eventually start sharing what we do professionally. I try not to get to personal so I say that I am self employed or that I own my company and leave at that, but some people are more curious then others so I tell them that I represent people that get accused for drunk driving. I do not know if it was the crowd, but more requested my card then usual. They seemed to know a lot about the DWI laws in Houston. Most importantly, they knew how easy it is to get arrested for it in Harris County, Texas. Maybe it was because they were craving something alcoholic since none were being served at the picnic.
