7000 Drunks at a Houston Texans Game?

According to a published report 1 in 8 people were found to be intoxicated while attending a sporting event.  That being said, Reliant Stadium holds over 70,000 fans every time the Texans play so according to those numbers you are very likely to run into someone that is drunk when attending a Texans game.  Some people may try to say the same thing as a lot of prosecutors and police officers say which is that being drunk and intoxicated is not the same thing.  I am having to call these people out on that statement because the law clearly tells us what the definition of an intoxicated person is but does not define a drunk person.  Furthermore, drunk and intoxicated are synonyms in many dictionaries.  Until our legislature provides a definition for a drunk person I am going to characterize them as the same as someone that is intoxicated. It is not up to law enforcement to try and change the definition for us for their own purposes.

I imagine that the numbers may be even more at a Texans game with the amount of tailgating that goes on in the parking lot before and after the game.  It has been my experience to come across a lot more people that are drunk while tailgating than those that enter the stadium to watch the game.  Frankly, I am surprised that there are not more Harris County, Texas DWI arrests after a Texans game.  That is another public relations problem that Texans owner Bob Mcnair would like to avoid.
