Traffic Tickets While On DIVERT

Typically, any type of traffic ticket would not be a cause for concern.  A person can easily take a defensive driving course, request deferred adjudication or pay the fine without a problem.  However, when someone is on a DWI probation or in the DIVERT program getting a traffic ticket could be an issue.  For example, if the person has their driver's license suspended and gets a traffic ticket this could be considered to be a violation of their probation or the DIVERT contract.  Also, it is quite possible that the court or the DIVERT program can obtain a copy of the ticket, check the time and determine if you were driving the vehicle that has the required interlock device to be installed.  If the person is driving a car without the interlock device this could cause the court to revoke their probation or for the DIVERT contract to be terminated.  While a traffic citation may not be a problem for most people anyone that is on DWI probation or in the DIVERT need to be extra careful.
